Custom Brand Color Matching for Packaging
Teal Packaging provides precise color matching services to ensure your custom packaging accurately represents your brand identity. We match Pantone spot colors, CMYK formulations, and brand-specific color values across all printing methods and materials.
Color Matching Capabilities
Our color matching process uses calibrated spectrophotometers and standardized color measurement protocols. We match colors to Pantone Matching System (PMS) references, CMYK percentages, RGB values converted to print-appropriate gamuts, HEX codes from digital brand guidelines, and physical reference samples you provide.
Pantone Color Matching
Pantone spot colors provide the most accurate color reproduction for branded packaging. We stock hundreds of Pantone ink formulations and can mix custom colors to match any PMS reference. Spot color printing ensures consistent color across production runs, materials, and reorders.
CMYK Process Color Matching
Four-color process (CMYK) printing allows full-color graphics and photographic images on packaging. While CMYK cannot match all Pantone colors exactly, we optimize CMYK formulations to achieve the closest possible match to your brand colors within the CMYK gamut. This approach works well for multi-color designs where spot color printing would be cost-prohibitive.
Materials and Color Accuracy
Substrate material affects color appearance. Colors print differently on uncoated kraft paper, coated white stock, and recycled materials. We provide color proofs on your selected material to ensure accurate preview of final printed results. Material choice is a critical factor in achieving brand color accuracy.
Color Matching Process
Submit your brand color specifications including Pantone numbers, CMYK values, or physical samples. Our prepress team creates digital proofs showing color reproduction on your selected material. We print physical color samples for your approval before full production. Upon approval, those color standards become the reference for your production run and future reorders.
Pricing for Color Matching
Pantone spot color matching includes setup fees for custom ink mixing:
- 100 units: Base printing cost + $125 per spot color
- 500 units: Base printing cost + $95 per spot color
- 1,000 units: Base printing cost + $75 per spot color
- 2,500+ units: Spot color fees absorbed into volume pricing
CMYK process printing includes no additional color matching fees. Standard turnaround: 15-20 business days including color proofing and approval.
Brand Consistency Across Materials
Maintaining brand color consistency across different packaging materials requires careful specification. We document your approved color formulations for each material type, creating a reference library for future orders. This ensures consistent brand appearance whether printing on rigid boxes, folding cartons, or corrugated mailers.
Industries Requiring Precise Color Matching
- Cosmetics and beauty brands with established color palettes
- Food and beverage companies with trademarked brand colors
- Corporate packaging for Fortune 500 brand standards
- Retail products requiring shelf consistency
- Luxury goods with premium brand positioning
Color Proofing Options
We offer multiple proofing methods depending on accuracy requirements and budget. Digital proofs provide quick color reference at low cost. Physical printed samples on actual substrate material show true color appearance. Press proofs from production equipment offer highest accuracy but require additional time and cost.
Troubleshooting Color Matching Challenges
Some brand colors fall outside achievable print gamuts, particularly fluorescent colors, metallics, and highly saturated hues. We work with you to identify the closest achievable match or recommend alternative solutions like metallic inks, foil stamping, or specialty coatings to achieve the desired visual effect.
Maintaining Color Across Reorders
We retain ink formulations, color specifications, and approval samples for all custom color matching projects. Reorders reference these standards to maintain consistency. Our quality control process includes color measurement during production to verify adherence to approved color specifications.
