Types of Child-Resistant Mechanisms
Push-and-Turn Closures
The classic mechanism: push down and turn simultaneously to open. Integrated into box lids, jar caps, or tube closures. Children lack the coordination to perform both actions together.

Squeeze-and-Slide
Press inward on sides while sliding to open. Popular for slider boxes and tin-style containers. Clean mechanism that doesn't require rotation.

Button-Lock Systems
Hidden button must be pressed to release lid. Intuitive for adults, difficult for small children. Works on rigid boxes and containers.

Requires pinching tabs while pulling upward. Simple, reliable, low-cost option for bag and pouch closures.

Testing and Certification
Our CR packaging undergoes protocol testing per 16 CFR 1700.20:
- Child panel testing: 200 children aged 42-51 months attempt to open package within 10 minutes
- Adult panel testing: 100 adults aged 50-70 must be able to open package
- Pass criteria: 85% of children unable to open, 90% of adults able to open

Materials and Construction
CR packaging requires specific materials to support mechanisms:
- Paperboard: 400-600 GSM for structural integrity
- Rigid chipboard: 1.5-2.5mm for box bases and lids
- Metal: Tinplate for tin-style CR containers
- Plastic components: HDPE or PP for mechanism parts
