Cracking at the fold is the usual complaint, and it comes from folding heavy stock without scoring first. Above roughly two hundred and fifty grams, a proper score is not optional. Grain direction matters too, since folding across the grain gives a rougher edge. Four panel and gate folds need slightly different panel widths so the closed card sits flat.
