What is a product seeding campaign?
Product seeding is sending your product free to creators and reviewers in the hope of organic coverage. The strategy half is the list. The operational half is a kit: printed packaging, the product, an insert card, and a parcel to every address on that list. Teal Packaging makes the kit and ships the wave from West Chicago, Illinois.
Most seeding programs fail on the second half rather than the first. A brand assembles 400 kits on a conference room table, ships them from an office, and then cannot repeat it monthly. Handing the build and the dispatch to a packaging supplier that also fulfills turns a one-off push into something that runs on a schedule.
What a seeding wave actually costs to run
| Line item | What drives it | Who supplies it |
|---|---|---|
| Printed mailer or box | Size, board, print coverage, run length | Teal |
| Insert or platform | Product dimensions, number of cavities | Teal |
| Card, tissue, seal sticker | How many versions across tiers | Teal |
| The product | Your cost of goods | You |
| Assembly | Touches per kit, number of tiers | Teal |
| Parcel dispatch | Recipient count, weight, service level | Teal |
| Storage between waves | Pallet footprint and how long stock sits | Teal |
The lever most brands miss is run length on the printed components. Print the season, not the wave. A single run across four waves lands a materially lower unit cost than four runs, and storage between waves usually costs less than the difference.

If you want the physical box specification rather than the campaign operation, influencer seeding boxes covers the box itself.
How a wave runs
- Fix the season volume: total recipients across all planned waves, so the print run is sized once.
- Approve one artwork family: free dieline design, a digital proof, and two revision rounds before anything prints.
- Print and store: the run lands and Teal holds it, releasing against each wave.
- Send the address file: one row per creator, with a tier column where the kit contents differ.
- Build and dispatch: kits assembled to the tier spec, one tracked parcel per recipient.
- Top up: reorders run on the held dieline and proof, so a repeat is not a new setup.
Production runs from about 7 business days after proof approval, longer for complex or high-volume orders, plus 2 to 5 business days for US delivery. On qualified ready-to-print jobs the rush tier runs from about 4 to 7 business days after proof approval, with a rush premium from about 7% to 25% depending on the job. Volume pricing runs from about $0.44 per unit at scale, and minimums start at 50 units so a first wave can be tested before the season is committed.
Where to go next
- The mailer format: PR and influencer mailers and mailer boxes.
- The seeding box itself: influencer seeding boxes.
- Assembly and per-recipient dispatch: influencer kit fulfillment.
- Holding stock between waves: packaging warehousing and storage.
- The full fulfillment service: custom packaging fulfillment and 3PL.
How to start
Send the product dimensions, how many creators the season covers, how many waves you plan, and whether tiers get different contents. That is enough to size one print run and quote the assembly and dispatch per wave. To see board and print quality first, the sample kit ships for $19.99 and the cost is credited toward a first custom order. When you are ready, request a quote.
