What is serialized labeling?
Serialized labeling prints a different value on every label in a run, so each unit or kit carries a unique identity: a serial number, a lot code, a sequential barcode or a one-time QR code. Teal Packaging prints serialized labels from your data file and applies them to units, kits and cartons during assembly at its West Chicago, Illinois fulfillment center.
It is the same press process as any label run with one change: the artwork is a template and the data file drives the variable field. That means a serialized run is not meaningfully slower than a static one, but it is unforgiving about the data. A duplicate row in the file becomes two products with the same identity, and no amount of print quality fixes that after the fact.

The hierarchy is the point. A program that serializes units but not cartons still has to open every carton to know what is in it. Serializing both, with the unit range recorded against the carton ID, is what makes a shipment reconcilable on arrival.
What Teal needs from you to run a serialized job
- The data file: a CSV or spreadsheet with one row per label and a column per variable field. Deduplicated before it is sent.
- The format rule: fixed prefix, digit count, whether a check digit is required, and the symbology if there is a barcode.
- The artwork template: the static label design with the variable field positioned and sized for the longest value in the file.
- The application spec: which face of the unit, whether it covers an existing barcode, and whether the same value has to repeat on a carton label.
- The reconciliation you need back: a file mapping serial ranges to cartons and pallets, if you want to receive against it.
If you do not have a numbering scheme yet, say so at quote and Teal will propose one. Fixing the digit count before printing is much cheaper than discovering the field overflows at unit 9,999.
